Three of the largest rail providers in North America have announced a new partnership for service across Canada, The United States, and Mexico. The new partnership made up of Canada National (CN), Union Pacific Railroad (UP), and Grupo Mexico Transportes (GMXT) will become the second to ever serve the three countries and will use Chicago as its main interchange point.

Sale Announced For Downtown Greyhound Station

The main Chicago Greyhound bus station at 630 W Harrison Street in the Near West Side has been put up for sale for redevelopment. Located on the corner with S Jefferson Street near downtown, it is bound on the north and west sides by the newly redesigned circle interchange and is one of multiple Greyhound stops in the city. After switching hands a few times in the last years, the site has now been listed by Texas-based CBRE in a move that similarly led to the sale of the Greyhound facility where Halsted Pointe is set to rise.

Updated Groundbreaking Date Announced For Halsted Pointe On Goose Island

Updated construction dates have been announced for the first phase of the Halsted Pointe development at 901 N Halsted Street on Goose Island. Located on the island’s southern end near the future casino site, the multi-tower proposal will replace the existing Greyhound Bus facility. Canadian-based developer Onni Group is behind the project as well as the recently revised 357 N Green nearby, working with Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture on design and Hitchcock Design Group on the landscaping.

Plan Commission Approves Revised Plans For Lincoln Park Residential Development

The Chicago Plan Commission has approved revised plans for the residential development at 438 W Saint James Place in Lincoln Park. Located west of the intersection with N Lakeview Avenue near the lakefront, the proposal will replace an existing two-flat and hug the adjacent 13-story mid-rise. Now after the original plans had already been approved mid-2022, developer St. James Interest, LLC has returned with an updated design from local firm Hirsch MPG.

Plan Commission Approves Galleria 89 In South Chicago

The Chicago Plan Commission has approved the mixed-use development dubbed Galleria 89 at 8840 S Commercial Avenue in South Chicago. Located on the northwest corner with E 89th Street, the project is one of the winners of the 2021 Invest South/West requests for proposals and will preserve one of the existing structures on site. Developer 548 Capital is leading the team with Rivetna Architecture and Farr Associates both working on its design.
