The Chicago Plan Commission has approved a mixed-use development at 160 N Morgan Street in the West Loop. Slightly revised plans for the bKL Architecture-designed residential high-rise were presented by developer Sterling Bay as they continue to build up the former meat packing industrial area. Facing N Morgan street, the site which once held a drive-thru bank turned Gucci store pop-up, will give residents direct access to restaurant row, the CTA Green Line, and next door Federales bar.

Zoning Approved For Residential Development At 547 W Oak Street In Near North Side

The Chicago Committee on Zoning has approved rezoning for a new residential development at 547 W Oak Street in Near North Side. Developer Brinshore-Michaels Development, LLC is teaming up with Pappageorge Haymes Architects to bring a new apartment building to an empty lot at the corner of W Oak Street and N Larrabee Street. Located on the south end of the former Cabrini-Green area, the project will benefit from being located near the new Halsted Pointe development and Sterling Bay’s recently renovated 600 West Chicago Avenue.

Chicago City Council Approves Rezoning for Mixed-Use Development At 901 N Halsted Street In Goose Island

The Chicago City Council has approved the rezoning of land for a mixed-use development at 901 N Halsted Street in Goose Island. The Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture-designed building will be the first phase of Halsted Pointe, a major planned development by Onni Group. Construction will begin in the first quarter of 2022, taking 24 to 30 months to complete.

Pullman National Monument Opens At 11001 S Cottage Grove Avenue in Pullman

The National Parks service has opened The Pullman National Monument, Chicago’s first National Monument at 11001 S Cottage Grove Avenue in Pullman. Opening ceremonies for the complex took place over Labor Day weekend, a holiday which traces its origins back to the workers that made the Pullman Company into a passenger rail juggernaut with its iconic sleeper cars. The new monument is expected to attract over 300,000 yearly visitors and bring a major economic impact to the growing neighborhood.

Revised Development at 640 W Irving Park Road in Uptown Awaits Approval

Revised plans have been revealed for a proposed residential development at 640 W Irving Park Road in Uptown. Sharing sites with the existing Immaculata High School, the 22-story building will rise in front of Lake Shore Drive and offer residents unobstructed views of the lake. The project is being developed by KGiles LLC and CA Ventures and designed by Perkins Eastman with Level Architecture.
