Updated details have been revealed for an upcoming data center at 1951 W Hastings Street in the Illinois Medical District. Located on the intersection with S Damen Avenue just north of the massive Union Pacific railyard, the new facility joins a similar proposal in McCormick Place that was also recently announced as Chicago continues to draw in similar projects. The new center is being developed by Chicago-based Metro Edge with architecture firm Corgan at the helm of its design.

A final landmark recommendation has been made by the Commission on Chicago Landmarks for The Warehouse at 204-208 S Jefferson Street in West Loop Gate. Located in a small unassuming building near the intersection with W Adams Street, the structure is considered the birthplace of house music in the late 1970’s to 1980’s. Recently the building went up for sale with no protection against demolition, thus locals and house music fans helped lead the efforts towards landmark designation.

Updated details have been revealed for the mixed-use development at 800 W Lake Street in Fulton Market. Located on the corner with N Halsted Street at the entrance of the neighborhood, the multi-plot site currently sits vacant as its previous commercial buildings were demolished for earlier iterations of the project. Now the development team of Ascend Real Estate and Intercontinental Real Estate Group have returned with a redesigned structure by GREC Architects.

Landmark Tax Incentives Approved For Restaurant Redevelopment In River North

Tax incentives have been approved by the Commission on Chicago Landmarks for the redevelopment of the LaSalle Street Cable Car Powerhouse at 500 N LaSalle Drive in River North. Located on the northwest corner with W Illinois Street adjacent to the recently completed 448 N LaSalle office building, the structure will once again become a restaurant from an overseas operator. London-based Hawksmoor will convert the space into a new steakhouse with an undisclosed designer.

18th & Peoria Framework Plan Approved By Plan Commission

The first approval has been granted for the 18th & Peoria framework plan in Pilsen by the Chicago Plan Commission. Previously announced in March of this year, the 6.3-arce site has belonged to the city since 2022 after some failed attempts to be redeveloped. Now the city and the Chicago Department of Housing (DOH) are leading the masterplan efforts designed by AECOM with local firms UrbanWorks and Koo Architecture.
