Updated plans have been revealed for a new educational building at 2633 W Addison Street in Roscoe Village. Located on the intersection with N Rockwell Street bound by the North Branch of the Chicago River to the west and Clark Park to the south and east, the project is re-utilizing the existing daycare building on the site. Chicago Public Schools (CPS) is behind the project that’ll serve four-year-old students addressing the current Pre-K needs in the area, while adding capacity inline with the city’s goal of offering universal Pre-K across all neighborhoods.

Sister Cities: A Look At Detroit’s Newest Skyline-Defining Hudson’s Site Skyscraper

Chicago YIMBY is putting the spotlight on significant developments in surrounding Midwestern cities in a new series of articles called Sister Cities. Today we are covering the new renderings released for the massive mixed-use Hudson’s Site development at 1208 Woodward Avenue in downtown Detroit. Located on the intersection with Grand River Avenue across the street from Detroit-native watchmaker Shinola’s Hotel, the new tower will become the city’s second tallest building behind the famed Renaissance Center. Local developer Bedrock Detroit is working along side of New York-based SHoP Architects on the design of the game-changing skyscraper.

Initial Details Revealed For First Infrastructure Bill Application From The State

Initial details have been announced for the city’s application for the first round of funding from the groundbreaking federal infrastructure program. With $1.2 trillion on the line for states across the nation to use on infrastructure repairs which have been put off for decades, bringing us to a critical point where we’ve seen an increase in bridge collapses and other major failures. The money would be applied for by the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and the work covered in this first application would be spread across the suburbs and city itself, with the plan to apply for more at a future date.

Initial details have been revealed for an upcoming mixed-use development at 353-363 E 51st Street in Washington Park. Located just west of the intersection with S Martin Luther King Drive on the northwest corner of the aforementioned park, the new project will redevelop a pair of existing structures varying in heights that have sat vacant for nearly 10 years now. Led by a joint venture made up of locals and co-developers Corey Gilkey and James Daughrity called Policy Kings, the duo is working with a local design firm on the new concept that will revitalize the corner.
