CTA Announces Three Teams To Submit Bids For Red Line Extension

The Chicago Transit Authority has announced three-teams to submit proposals for the upcoming Red Line extension. First proposed under the Daley administration in the 1950’s, initial funding for the project was approved late last year leading to the three groups identified. These teams consist of Walsh VINCI Transit Community Partners, Kiewit Infrastructure, and a joint venture between BOWA, FH Paschen, Ragnar Benson, and Milhouse.

City Council Approves Residential Development At 330 W Chestnut Street In Near North Side

The Chicago City Council has approved the residential development at 330 W Chestnut Street in the Near North Side. Located on the intersection with N Orleans Street near the quickly rising North Union megadevelopment, the proposal will replace a surface parking lot and received a handful of changes we previously covered during its Plan Commission approval in March. Now developers Draper & Kramer and BlitzLake Partners have received the last green light needed for the FitzGerald Associates-designed structure.

St. Regis Chicago Hotel Opens Inside Supertall Tower In Lakeshore East

The St. Regis Chicago has taken its last major step forward towards completion with the opening of its hotel component at 401 E Wacker Drive in Lakeshore East. Going by the same name as the tower itself and occupying the first 11 lower floors, the hotel and the residences above are being run by St. Regis Hotels and Resorts which is a subsidiary of Marriott. The interiors of the were designed by Gensler with Studio Gang and bKL Architecture working on the overall tower developed by Magellan Development Group.

Groundbreaking Held For Community Business Hub In Austin

The city has broken ground on a new business development center at 5500 W Madison Avenue in Austin. Located on the northeast corner with N Central Avenue just north of Columbus Park, the new center will redevelop the now vacant Emmet Elementary School. The Invest South/West project is being developed by the team made up of Austin Coming Together, Jane Addams Resource Corp, and Westside Health Authority who are working with Lamar Johnson Collaborative on its design.

City Council Approves Residential Development In Old Town

The Chicago City Council has approved the residential development at 1453 N Sedgwick Avenue in Old Town. Located south of the intersection with W North Avenue and near the Sedgwick CTA Brown Line station, the upcoming proposal replaces two two-flats built in 1883. The revised design was revealed in February of this year and is being led by the property owner Danny Xin under the name Sedgwick Properties, while the architect is currently unknown.
