Approval and new details have been revealed for the next phases of O’Hare International Airport 21 mega project to bring the city’s main airport into the modern era. Located on the northwestern extents of the city, the 11.25 square mile complex is one of the busiest in the world boasting five million square feet of terminal space and six parallel runways. Now a new set of concourses and terminal have received the green light and completion dates as a culmination of a modernization project that began nearly 16 years ago led by the Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA).

The City of Chicago has announced a new consolidated program to sell over 2,000 city-owned lots across various neighborhoods in the south and west sides. Focusing on neighborhoods like Englewood, West Englewood, New City, Garfield Park, North Lawndale, and Austin, the program aims at creating an equitable path for property ownership in areas that have long suffered from widespread disinvestment. Dubbed ChiBlockBuilder, it is being led by the Department of Planning and Development and city commissioner Maurice Cox with the blessing of Mayor Lori Lightfoot.

Initial Funds Approved For mHUB Conversion Of 240 N Ashland Avenue In West Loop

The Chicago Community Development Commission has approved initial funds for the redevelopment of the structure at 240 N Ashland Avenue in the West Loop. Located on the southwest corner with W Fulton Street, the famed clocktower building has sat vacant for a few years and is being proposed to become the new home for local incubator mHUB. The non-profit company themselves is behind the efforts, and while no architect has been revealed for the project, a few renderings have also been revealed.

Plan Commission Approves Affordable Mixed-Use Development At 4715 N Western Avenue In Lincoln Square

The Chicago Plan Commission has approved updated plans for the mixed-use development at 4715 N Western Avenue and details revealed for the new CTA transit plaza in Lincoln Square. Located on the northeast corner with W Leland Avenue, the project received initial funding approval from the Community Development Commission last month including the sale of the city-owned parking lot it will replace. The proposed building is being led by developer The Community Builders who have teamed up with local firm DesignBridge known for working on other affordable projects in Chicago.

Initial details have been revealed for the partial residential conversion of 79 W Monroe Street in The Loop. Located on the southeast corner with S Clark Street across the street from the famed Chase Tower and its plaza, the vintage building is one of the first projects within that may tap into funds from the recently announced LaSalle Street Reimagined initiative. Still in its early planning phases, the project comes to us from locally-based R2 Companies, who led the efforts for the Salt Shed, and a European family advised by investment firm Foursee.
