Plans for a new residential development have been unveiled for community feedback at 4555 N Dover Street in Uptown. Led by developers Ayman Khalil and Kareem Musawwir, the two-building project is the second attempt to develop a site currently occupied by a one-story glazed tile building which houses a local restaurant. Buying the lot earlier this year for $2 million, the team tapped local firm Axios Architects to design the project that will require special exemptions to be built from the city.

New plans for a fully affordable residential development at 1805 N Hamlin Avenue in Logan Square have been presented to the Committee on Design. Being developed by the Latin United Community Housing Association (LUCHA) and partially designed by Canopy Architecture with the Site Design Group, the new complex replaces an industrial lot being remediated by the city. The site, bought by the city in 2019 and donated to the developer, is bound by N Hamlin Avenue to the west, W Cortland Street to the north, and N Ridgeway Avenue to the east.

Rezoning for a new mixed-use project has been approved by the Committee on Zoning at 5416 W Belmont Avenue in Belmont Cragin. The project involves the gutting and remodeling of an existing retail building and adding a new two-story residential addition above. The site is bound by a public alley to the north, a parking lot to the east and a one-story car wash to the east. The expanded design is being completed by local architecture firm IR Design Firm.

Developer Reveals Plans For Mixed-Use Development At 1353 W Fulton Street In The West Loop

Developer Shapack Partners has revealed initial plans for a new mixed-use development at 1353 W Fulton Street in the West Loop. The high-rise joins a variety of new residential buildings proposed and built north of Lake Street and will sit on the southwest corner of W Fulton Street and N Ada Street replacing a one-story existing building and its attached parking lot. Directly east of the new West End Fulton office building, the tower will allow current tenants to continue operations on the site until mid-next year, this includes the leasing office for the nearby 1400 W Randolph residential tower.

City Council Approves Landmark Designation Of Muddy Waters House

The Chicago City Council has approved landmark designation of the Muddy Waters House at 4339 S Lake Park Avenue in North Kenwood. The brick-cladded two-flat was built in 1891 near the lake, and eventually became the home of McKinley Morganfield, aka Muddy Waters, between 1965 to 1973. As YIMBY previously reported, the home fulfilled various categories needed for the designation and has now cleared the final hurdle to win landmark recognition.
