Revised plans have been revealed for the mixed-use expansion of the Black Ensemble Theater (BE) at 4427 N Clark Street in Uptown. Dubbed ‘The Free To BE Village’, the multi-structure development was originally revealed last year and will rise across the street from the current home of the Black Ensemble Theater.
Quantum computing startup EeroQ has announced its new headquarters within The Terminal redevelopment at 1334 N Kostner Avenue in Humboldt Park. Located just north of the intersection W Division Street, the quantum company relocated to Chicago in 2022 to the building. It has now confirmed it will stay and grow as it receives new incentives from the state.
A groundbreaking ceremony has been held for the Sankofa Village Wellness Center at 4301 W Madison Street in West Garfield Park. Located on the corner with S Kildare Avenue, the project has been in the works for multiple years and will replace a vacant lot at the heart of the neighborhood. Work on the development has been led by The Garfield Park Rite to Wellness Collaborative.
A new affordable housing development has been revealed at 6301 S Western Avenue in Chicago Lawn. Located on the southeast corner with W 63rd Street, the new structure will replace an existing three-story brick building that is underutilized. The team behind the proposal is being led by Southwest Organizing Project with K2 Studio working on the design.
The Chicago City Council has approved the residential at 936 W Leland Avenue in Uptown. Located near the intersection with N Sheridan Avenue, the project will be replacing a vacant lot and was announced earlier this year. Operating under West Leland Avenue LLC, the project is being developed by the site’s current owner.
