Preliminary landmark recommendations have been approved by the Commission on Chicago Landmarks for two buildings in The Loop, ahead of their residential conversions. Located at 19 South LaSalle Street and 105 West Adams Street, both developments have been in the works for over a year and are part of the city’s LaSalle Street Reimagined initiative.
The Chicago City Council has approved the residential conversion of 223 West Erie Street in River North. Located at the intersection with North Franklin Street and bordered by CTA tracks to the west, the proposal was originally introduced earlier this summer along with many other conversions across the city.
Partial funding has been secured, and building permits have been issued for the mixed-use development at 227 West Chicago Avenue in River North. Located at the corner of North Franklin Street, the upcoming mid-rise will replace a vacant lot that previously held a one-story commercial building.
The Chicago City Council has approved a mixed-use development at 5301 South State Street in Washington Park. Located at the intersection with East 53rd Street, the proposal will replace a large vacant lot while expanding the existing XS Tennis and Education Foundation campus across the street.
Plans have been revealed for a mixed-use development at 2121 West Grand Avenue in West Town. Located near the intersection with North Hoyne Avenue, the proposal would replace a large vacant lot that is occasionally used for material storage. The project is being led by Panoptic Group, which has completed similar developments both nearby and across the city.
