Updated Plans Revealed For Mixed-Use Development In Wicker Park

Updated plans have been revealed for the small mixed-use development at 1912 W Division Street in Wicker Park. Located west of the intersection with N Damen Avenue the proposed structure will replace an empty lot normally used as a parking lot by the surrounding businesses. Developer 1912 Division, who is a part of Elk Enterprises, is working with local architecture firm FitzGerald Associates on its design which was revealed earlier this year.

Onni Fulton Market Takes Fifth Place In Year End Countdown

Coming in at the fifth place in this year’s countdown is the residential development at 354 N Union Avenue in the Fulton River District. Contrary to its address the main entrance is reached off of N Halsted Street just south of the overpass with W Kinzie Street, having replaced an empty lot adjacent to the K2 residential tower easily seen from the highway nearby. Canadian developer Onni Group is leading the project with local architecture firm Pappageorge Haymes having worked on its design.

Initial Funding Approved For Red Line Extension

The Chicago City Council has approved funding for the CTA Red Line Extension across the South Side. In the works for nearly 50 years, the extension would bring much needed transit from the current terminus of the line at 95th Street all the way down to 130th Street near Altgeld Gardens by Lake Calumet. Hoping to spur new economic development and connect more people to the city center, the project is being spearheaded by the CTA with help from Muller 2 Architects who also worked on the O’Hare Airport Terminal 5 expansion.

New School Proposed At 6801 N California Avenue In West Ridge

Details have been revealed for a new school and dormitory at 6801 N California Avenue in West Ridge on the Far North Side. Located on the corner with W Pratt Boulevard not too far from the famed W Devon Avenue strip, the new school is being built by the Lubavitch Mesivta of Chicago and replacing an existing one-story strip mall recently purchased to be torn down. The Mesivta, or secondary school, is working with a local architect to construct the Yeshiva building, or school building.
