Pritzker Foundation Announces Chicago Prize Finalist Across Neighborhoods

The initial finalists for the 2022 Pritzker Traubert Foundation Chicago Prize have been announced across various city neighborhoods. The new competition started this year by the foundation was created with the belief that all Chicagoans should have equal access to economic opportunity. The six finalists are vying for a $10 million award, as a part of a larger $30 million commitment to community development on the city’s south and west sides over the next five years according to their website.

Updated Details Revealed For Community Arts Center At 1353 E 72nd Street In Greater Grand Crossing

Updated details have been revealed for a community arts center at 1353 E 72nd Street in Greater Grand Crossing. Located just west of the intersection with S Dorchester Avenue, the project will rehabilitate the previously abandoned St. Laurence Catholic School which has sat vacant after past redevelopment plans failed. The creative force behind the new art-focused spaces is the Rebuild Foundation led by Theaster Gates who is well known for his Stony Island Arts Bank project. Woman-owned Muller 2 known for their O’Hare Terminal 5 extension are serving as the architects, while Power & Sons as the general contractor.

New Details Revealed For A Residential Development In Greater Grand Crossing

New details have been revealed for a residential development at 7237 S Vincennes Avenue in Greater Grand Crossing. Located just north of the intersection with W 73rd Street, the project will replace a large vacant lot owned by Anthony Casboni whose family has owned the land since 1939 and once operated a discount store on it. Casboni is working with co-developer Darryl Burton who will also act as the project manager, both will see through the first phase of the proposal before continuing with a second phase.
