Chicago Bears Purchase Arlington Heights Land

The Chicago Bears have announced the purchase of the land needed for their potential move to 2200 Euclid Avenue in Arlington Heights. Located on the nexus of Highways 14 and 53 roughly 28 miles northwest of their current home of Soldier Field, the team is nearing the end of a multi-year negotiation on where to call home with the City of Chicago and the state. The mixed-use megaproject is being led by the team itself and their president along with San Francisco based design-firm Hart Howerton.

City Council Approves Kitchen Incubator In Washington Park

The Chicago City Council has approved the commercial project at 5201 S Wabash Avenue in Washington Park. Located just north of the intersection with E 51st Street, the project is part of a 2021 Invest South/West RFP and has been in the works since YIMBY first reported on it in early 2022. This winning proposal comes to us from developer Urban Equities and is designed by local firms TnS Studio and SmithGroup with whom YIMBY had the pleasure of speaking with last summer on the proposal.

Updated Plans Revealed For 1300 W Carroll Avenue In West Loop

Updated plans have been revealed for the mixed-use development at 1300 W Carroll Avenue in the West Loop. Located on the northwest corner with N Elizabeth Street and replacing a vacant lot that once held the ADM Wheat Mill silos, the multi-phase project has now received a redesign after feedback from the community and the Department of Planning and Development. Developer Sterling Bay is still working with global design firm SOM on the proposal which received some major changes from its initial announcement in November 2021.

City Council Approves Residential Development In Uptown

The Chicago City Council has approved the residential development at 4642 N Magnolia Avenue in Uptown. Located just south of the intersection with W Leland Avenue near the St. Boniface Cemetery, the project will sit on a lot that has sat vacant since 2014 when the previous house on it was demolished. Now developer Finan Development Corp is moving forward with their plans designed by local-firm Laszlo Simovic Architects.

Six Finalists Announced For LaSalle Street Reimagined

Finalists have been announced for the city’s LaSalle Street Reimagined initiative in The Loop. Covering roughly six blocks of LaSalle Street bound by W Van Buren Street to the south, N Wells Street to the west, N Clark Street to the east, and W Washington Street to the north, the initiative looks to solve the area’s high vacancy issue caused by aging structures while addressing affordability. Thus the Department of Planning and Development along with the Department of Housing created the Request For Proposal (RFP).
