Land Purchased For Mixed-Use Development In South Loop

A land purchase has been executed for the mixed-use development at 424 S Wabash Avenue in the South Loop. With a mid-block location between E Van Buren Street and E Congress Parkway, the future structure will replace a vacant lot most commonly used as a surface parking lot for the surrounding businesses. The team at DAC Developments, which is being led by Adam Rezko, is working with local firm Pappageorge Haymes on its design.

Renderings have been revealed for the upcoming mixed-use project at 415 N Sangamon Street in the West Loop. Shown to area locals during a public meeting held last night, plans for the tower have remained relatively the same with the images offering a first look at its solar panel-lined exterior. News on the proposal broke last September, replacing a vacant lot and incorporate the adjacent on-site building. Developer Fortem Voluntas Partners led by Jay Jordan, an ex-Sterling Bay leasing agent, is partnering with local firm Eckenhoff Saunders and Miller Hull on its design.

Permits Issued For Mixed-Use Development At 2934 W Medill Avenue In Logan Square

Permits have been issued for an upcoming mixed-use development at 2934 W Medill Avenue in Logan Square. Located just west of the intersection with N Milwaukee Avenue, the upcoming proposal will replace a long-term vacant lot bound by a public alley, the CTA Blue Line tracks, and a parking lot popular with local skaters. Developer Wilmot Properties is working with Chicago-based designers Hanna Architects who is known for their smaller scale projects across the north side.

Building Permits Issued For Invest South/West Project In Auburn Gresham

Building permits have been issued for one of the first group of buildings from the mayor’s Invest South/West initiative at 757 and 838 W 79th Street in Auburn Gresham. Located predominantly around the intersection with S Halsted Street, the two-structure project will replace two vacant lots, one of which has sat empty for over 10 years. Developer Evergreen Imagine is working with the award-winning local firm Ross Barney Architects and Nia Architects on the design.

President Biden Set To Sign Creation Of The Bronzeville-Black Metropolis National Heritage Area

The upcoming bills set forward to designate a large portion of the South Side predominantly around Bronzeville as a National Heritage Area will now be signed by President Biden. The two bills H.R. 670 and S.511, which we covered in greater detail exactly a year ago as they were introduced for review by a subcommittee of the National Parks Service, received the necessary legislative votes and will now make their way to the president’s desk. The bills were introduced by US Representative Bobby Rush and Senator Dick Durbin early last year.
