The City of Chicago has celebrated the grand opening of the Winthrop Garden POP! Plaza at 4628 N Winthrop Avenue in Uptown. Located on the short back road just north of the intersection between N Kenmore Avenue and W Wilson Avenue, the new space replaces an existing community garden which has stood in its place for nearly 20 years. Building off of the upcoming Platform 4611 apartments, the efforts were led by the neighborhood run Uptown United along with the Chicago Department of Planning and Development.

Committee On Design Reviews Residential Development At 1234 W Randolph Street In Fulton Market

The Chicago Committee on Design has reviewed plans for a residential development at 1234 W Randolph Street in Fulton Market. Located just east of the intersection with N Elizabeth Street, it will replace two small commercial structures sandwiched between Alhambra Palace and City Winery. Developers Golub & Company and Azur Holdings are working with local firm Solomon Cordwell Buenz (SCB) on the design of the tower which replaces previous plans which called for a new outpost of the Standard Hotel.

City Council Approves Medical Facility At 4800 S Cottage Grove Avenue in Grand Boulevard

The Chicago City Council has approved a new mixed-use medical facility at 4800 S Cottage Grove Avenue in Grand Boulevard. Located on the corner with E 48th Street, the new structure replaces a vacant lot and brings a much needed service to an area which has suffered from years of disinvestment in public health. The project is being developed by Northwestern Medicine with local firms Lamar Johnson Collaborative and Brook Architecture working on its design.

The Chicago City Council has approved the mixed-use development at 914 W 63rd Street in Englewood. Located on the northeast corner of the intersection with S Halsted Parkway, the proposal dubbed ‘Englewood Thrive’ will be replacing a large vacant lot just west of Englewood Connect which broke ground recently. Developer DL3 Realty is working with the local office of Perkins & Will on the design of the multi-phase project which hopes to foster growth and provide new housing in the changing area.

Groundbreaking Held For National Public Housing Museum In Near West Side

A groundbreaking ceremony was held for the National Public Housing Museum at 1322 W Taylor Street in the Near West Side. Located on the corner with W Taylor Street near the SOM-designed Little Italy public library and the upcoming Chicago Fire FC facility, the project is part of the larger Roosevelt Square Plan hoping to bridge the Taylor Street corridor. Developers Related Midwest and the Chicago Housing Authority are working with local firms HED Architects and Landon Bone Baker Architects on the one-of-a-kind institution.
