Partial Funding Approved For Parkside Phase 3 In Old Town

The Community Development Commission has approved partial funding for the residential development at 520 W Hobbie Street in the Near North Side. The new structures at the nearly full-block project will expand the existing Parkside of Old Town complex. Developer Holsten Real Estate is working with the Chicago Housing Authority and Cabrini Green Community Development Corporation, tapping local firm Landon Bone Baker Architects for the design.

Groundbreaking Held For Westhaven Park IID in Near West Side

An official groundbreaking has been held for the mixed-use development at 1959 W Lake Street in the Near West Side. Located on the intersection with N Damen Avenue adjacent to the CTA tracks and upcoming Damen Green Line station, the project dubbed Westhaven Park IID is the final phase of the greater Westhaven Park development near the United Center. Developers Brinshore Development, The Michaels Organization, and the Chicago Housing Authority worked with local firm Landon Bone Baker on its design.

New Protected Bike Lanes Announced In West Town

New bike infrastructure plans have been announced along parts of N Milwaukee Avenue and W Grand Avenue within West Town. The two separate projects will run on portions of the large roads as each city ward must coordinate such infrastructure within their boundaries, the lanes would bring desperately needed improvements on some of the most dangerous streets in the city. The work for both is being executed in collaboration with the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) with the support of some advocacy groups.

Further Details Revealed For Fifth Third Arena Expansion

Further details have been revealed for the next expansion phase for the Fifth Third Arena at 301 S Damen Avenue in the Near West Side. Sitting on the corner with W Jackson Boulevard and just north of the Eisenhower, plans for the redevelopment of the greater site were revealed earlier this year with a future residential component. The Chicago Blackhawks themselves are leading the proposal for the enlarged training facility being designed by Kansas City-based Generator Studio.

Details have been revealed for the residential development at 1700 S Wabash Avenue in the Near South Side. Located just north of the intersection with E 18th Street and bound by CTA tracks to the west, the slim proposal will replace a vacant lot near the lakefront. The team at CMK Development is behind the project and are no strangers to the area with multiple South Loop properties, they’re joined by Pappageorge Haymes Partners as the designer.
