City Of Chicago Awards $1 Billion Towards Affordable Housing Projects

The City of Chicago and Mayor Lori Lightfoot have announced the 24 recipients of a nearly $1 billion investment in affordable housing, the largest in Chicago history. All together the selected developments will bring 2,428 residential units across 14 neighborhoods in collaboration with Chicago Department of Housing. The winning proposals come from a list of 51 applicants and consist of new construction, preservations, and rehabilitation work.

609 W Randolph Progresses as the 23rd Tallest in Year-End Countdown

The recently topped-out 609 W Randolph Street takes the 23rd spot in Chicago YIMBY’s year-end countdown. The 15-story, 211-foot-tall high-rise comes to us from developer Vista Property Group and is designed by Antunovich Associates in the growing West Loop Gate neighborhood. The development which replaced a surface parking lot also included renovations of the existing adjoining five-story brick building built in the 1890’s.

New Welcome Center Envisioned For DANK Haus In Lincoln Square

Initial details have been revealed for a new welcome center in the DANK Haus building at 4740 N Western Avenue in Lincoln Square. Located on the corner of W Lawrence and N Western Avenues, DANK, whose name is the German acronym for German American National Congress, has occupied the building since 1967. With the goal to preserve German-American culture and businesses in the neighborhood, fundraising for the expansion will continue through to the year’s end.

Construction Continues on 345 N Morgan Street, Claiming the 25th Spot in Year-End Countdown

Claiming the 25th spot in the 2021 Chicago YIMBY year-end countdown is 345 N Morgan Street in the West Loop with a final height of 178 feet upon completion. Located across the street from the Google midwest headquarters and south of the Metra tracks, the 11-story building will deliver 230,000 square feet of space of which 200,000 will be allocated for office space.
