Work Resumes On 1000M , Countdown’s Fourth Tallest Development

Resuming into the fourth spot of the 2021 Chicago YIMBY’s year-end countdown is 1000 S Michigan Avenue otherwise known as 1000M in the South Loop. Topping out at a revised 805 feet tall, the tower is designed by prolific architect Helmut Jahn whose work includes the Thompson Center and passed away earlier this year in the suburbs. Developers Time Equities and JK Equities partnered on the skyscraper which recently secured financing to resume construction after stopping work early in the pandemic.

New Permit Issued for 5128 N Avers Avenue in Albany Park

A permit was issued last week for a new three-story residential building located at 5128 N Avers Avenue in the Albany Park neighborhood. Knock Enterprises is listed as the owner, and the plans indicate this project will feature a total of three dwelling units. The property lot is currently vacant.

A permit was issued this week for a two-story residential building with a frame slab at 5355 S Lockwood Avenue in the Garfield Ridge neighborhood. The proposed project’s owner is listed as Chi Partners LLC Lockwood Laramie Series. The scope of the project details 16 total dwelling units. Plans indicate the presence of five-foot-tall wooden fence, a trash enclosure, and a 24-vehicle parking pad at the rear of the building site. The lot is currently vacant.

Plan Commission Approves Senior Housing At 9633 S Cottage Grove Avenue In Pullman

The Chicago Plan Commission has approved a residential development at 9633 S Cottage Grove Avenue in Pullman. The project dubbed ‘Imani Senior Village’ is one of the recipients of the recent historic $1 billion funding of affordable housing, developers Trinity United Church of Christ selected Johnson and Lee Architects as the designer for the senior-focused, multi-phase development that will replace a one-story industrial building.

Cirrus Condominiums Top Out As Seventh Tallest Development In 2021 Countdown

Topping out at the seventh spot of Chicago YIMBY’s year-end countdown is the Cirrus condominium development in Lakeshore East. Reaching a height of 562 feet, the tower is part of a greater project that is building up the last plots of land near the water of the multi-decade masterplan for the neighborhood. Developers Lendlease and Magellan have worked with bKL Architecture, whose office is in the nearby Aqua Tower, on the three-tower plan.

Plan Commission Approves Affordable Housing Development At 1203 N California Avenue In Humboldt Park

The Chicago Plan Commission has approved a mixed-use development at 1203 N California Avenue in Humboldt Park. Located on the corner with W Division Street, the project replaces an empty lot and is being developed by the Hispanic Housing Development Corporation with architects Pappageorge Haymes Partners. Rising on Paseo Boricua, the building will contribute to the growing neighborhood with an 89 percent Latino population.

900 Randolph Breaks Ground As The Ninth Tallest Development In 2021 Countdown

Coming in at ninth place in Chicago YIMBY’s year-end countdown is 900 Randolph in the Fulton Market District. The mixed-use tower marks what is the first of many coming skyscrapers in the neighborhood that will redefine the city skyline and largely expand it west, the structure itself will top out at 495 feet tall, far above anything surrounding it. Developer Related Midwest selected the acclaimed New York-based firm Morris Adjmi Architects for the industrial-style building directly north of famed restaurant row.

Plan Commission Approves Senior Housing Project At 833 W Wilson Avenue In Uptown

The Chicago Plan Commission has approved a new affordable residential development at 833 W Wilson Avenue in Uptown. Developer Brinshore Development LLC has partnered with Landon Bone Baker Architect, known for their affordable housing designs, for this senior housing project. The new building will replace an empty lot just west of the intersection with N Clarendon Avenue, near the recently approved Sarah’s on Lakeview.

The Reed Rises To The 11th Spot In Year-End Countdown

The quickly rising tower dubbed ‘The Reed’ at 234 W Polk Street in the South Loop takes the 11th place in 2021’s year-end countdown. The 41-story residential structure will rise 447 feet tall on the banks of the Chicago River as part of the greater Southbank development led by Lendlease and designed by Perkins + Will. The project joins ‘The Cooper’, an adjacent rental building which was the development’s first completed design.

Plan Commission Approves Residential Development At 4737 N Sheridan Road In Uptown

The Chicago Plan Commission has approved a new residential development at 4737 N Sheridan Road in Uptown. The developer behind the project is the non-profit organization Sarah’s Circle with Perkins + Will as the architect on the new structure that replaces an empty lot on the corner with W Lakeside Place. The new facility dubbed ‘Sarah’s on Lakeside’ is only a block away from two other properties operated by the organization.
