Demolition is mostly complete of the former Uncommon Ground restaurant at 1401 West Devon Avenue in Edgewater. That clears the way for a 12-unit residential development to begin construction. According to Block Club, demolition got started a few weeks ago; all that remains to be cleared from the site is a little bit of rubble, and there’s some foundation remnants to be dug out.

While two Lincoln Square buildings await demolition, a new construction permit has been issued by the City of Chicago for a residential development at 4531 North Western Avenue. Assigned to the address of 4529 North Western, the permit came through on August 20, and it allows the entity of Western Front LLC in Buffalo Grove to build an eight-unit development spanning three city lots in total, from 4527 through 4531 mid-block on Western Ave.

Demolition of a greystone multi-unit residence at 707 West Briar Place in Lake View has wrapped, yielding the way to foundation work for a new four-story with basement condominium development. Developed and built by Ronan Construction, the building will hold six condos, topped by a roof deck. There will not be a detached garage, but six outdoor parking spaces will be available to condo owners. Michael Cox & Associates is the architect listed on the new construction permit, issued January 26 of this year.

The City of Chicago has issued a new construction permit for the property at 2702 North Greenview Avenue in Lincoln Park. The space currently is a greenery-filled side yard, likely belonging to the home next door at 2700 North Greenview before the empty lot was sold, with a concrete slab for parking still at the rear of the property. There are no permits for this address in the Chicago Data Portal dating back to 2006, so it looks like this lot has been empty for a good while. There is also no indication to date that the home at 2700 will be demolished as part of this development.
