Parapet Installed for 1000M Apartment Tower in South Loop

The parapet topping the new 1000M apartment tower has been installed, bringing the development to its pinnacle height of 805 feet. The completion of this capping structure now offers a final glimpse of the skyscraper’s design and its impact on the South Loop skyline. This 74-story development at 1000 S Michigan Avenue will house 738 total apartments, a pivot from the originally planned 506 condominiums. Time Equities, Inc., JK Equities, and Oak Capitals are operating as co-developers.

Financing Initially Approved For United Yards Development In Back Of The Yards

Financing has been initially approved for the United Yards development at 1515 W 47th Street in Back of the Yards. Centered around the intersection with S Ashland Avenue and bringing a mix of new construction and redevelopment, the project is part of the Invest South/West initiative and will be built in phases. Developers Celadon Partners and Blackwood Group worked with local architecture firm DesignBridge on the overall proposal.

Permit Issued for 642 W Webster Avenue in Lincoln Park

A construction permit has been approved for a new residential development at 642 W Webster Avenue in Lincoln Park. The project will feature a four-story masonry condo development with three units and a basement. This new structure will replace a three-story brick residential structure. Grace Lee is the listed owner of this development.

Permit Issued for 1842 W Iowa Street in East Village

A construction permit has been issued for a new residential building located at 1842 W Iowa Street in West Town’s East Village. The project will feature a three-story building housing two dwelling units with a basement. Additional features of the design include a rear deck with stairs accessible from the 1st and 2nd stories, a rear stair leading to the 3rd story, a rooftop deck, a trellis, and a rooftop stair enclosure. This structure will replace a three-story frame residence.

Plans Revealed For Fern Hill Development In Old Town

Plans have been revealed for the mixed-use development at 1610 N LaSalle Drive in Old Town. Located on the intersection with W North Avenue, the multi-site project was originally announced in 2021 centered around the Moody Church Auditorium. Chicago-based developer Fern Hill is behind the proposal, however it will appear the team from David Adjaye is no longer involved in the design with GREC Architects taking over.

Base Rises for 633 S LaSalle Street in South Loop

Structural work has completed for the first five floors of 633 S LaSalle Street in South Loop. Led by The Collective, this 18-floor residential structure is being constructed on land previously occupied by a surface parking lot. The building is designed for co-living, with 117 apartment suites that can house up to 381 residents.

Permit Issued for 1700 S Wabash Avenue in South Loop

A construction permit has been issued for a new South Loop development at 1700 South Wabash Avenue. Developed by CMK Companies, the new nine-story residential building, with a height of 115 feet, is set to house 37 residential units. These units will include 11 studios, 10 one-bedrooms, 14 two-bedrooms, and two three-bedrooms on the top floor with private terraces. In compliance with city regulations, 20 percent of these units will be designated as affordable.

City Council Approves 375 N Morgan Street In Fulton Market

The Chicago City Council has approved the mixed-use development at 375 N Morgan Street in Fulton Market. Also going as 901 W Kinzie Street, the structure will eventually replace the freshly paved parking lot behind the new Guinness Open Gate Brewery. Developed by Latsko Interest and JDL Development, the building is being designed by local firm Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture.

Permit Issued for 6327 S Langley Avenue in Woodlawn

A construction permit has been approved for a new residential development situated at 6327 S Langley Avenue in the Woodlawn neighborhood. The project will feature a three-flat residential building with an R5 residential zoning designation, replacing the current vacant lot on the site. The owner of this initiative is Dajuan Robinson.

Plans Revealed For Residential Development At 1342 W Ohio Street In West Town

Plans have been revealed for the residential development at 1342 W Ohio Street in West Town. Located just east of the intersection with N Noble Street, the proposal would replace a vacant lot across the street from Rauner College Prep. Developer West Town Gamma Sub LLC is working with local-design firm BLDG PROJ who worked on similar projects across the city.
