Construction Progresses on 3839 N Clark Street in Lake View

Since Chicago YIMBY’s last November update, construction has added an additional floor for 3839 N Clark Street, a planned five-story residential building in Lake View. With permits issued of January 2020 under Clark Apartments LLC, plans call for nine total units with attached balconies, as well as a fitness center contained within the top-floor penthouse enclosure. Units vary between one- and three-bedrooms and range in size from 795 to 1,365 square feet.

Metal Accents Added to Topped-Out Bentham Development in River North

Installation of white metal panels can be seen at The Bentham, a 14-story mixed-use development at 146 W Erie Street near the center of River North. Sedgwick Development is responsible for the planning and design of the tower, which will include a podium with 2,556 square feet of retail at ground level and 46 parking spaces on the first through third floors. Floors four through fourteen will house 31 residential condominium units, each consisting of three bedrooms and three bathrooms. The project is set to replace a single-story auto body shop that was demolished in 2017.

Construction permits have been issued for a new three-story residential building at 3655 S Michigan Avenue in Douglas. Filed under the owner Innisfree Builders, the development will include an open rear steel porch and stairs, as well as a three-car detached garage. The project is set to replace a currently vacant lot that was part of a recent ordinance to rezone a multi-parcel stretch of land from B3-3, Community Shopping District and Cl-3 Neighborhood Commercial District to RM-5 Residential Multi-Unit District.

One Chicago Approaching Full Height in River North

Construction has reached the 800-foot-tall mark for the east tower at One Chicago Square, a 2.2 million-square-foot megadevelopment in the northeast corner of River North. Planned by JDL and Sterling Bay, the project involves a pair of 49- and 74-story skyscrapers rising 574 and 971 feet in height, respectively, the latter of which will be Chicago’s eighth tallest building upon its completion.
