Final cladding is now underway for a seven-story mixed-use building at 1122 W Chicago Avenue in West Town. Now branded as Nevele22 (“Eleven” backwards + 22), the 97,000-square-foot project is being developed by Lipe Property Company to include both commercial and residential space. The development is replacing a former cluster of low-rise buildings and parking lots on a triangular parcel bound by W Chicago Avenue and N Milwaukee Avenue.
Construction permits were recently issued for a three-story, three-unit residential building at 4155 S Prairie Avenue in Bronzeville. James Nahon is the listed owner, whose plans for the new structure include a rear two-story staircase and deck, as well as a three-car garage. Currently, the parcel is occupied by a vacant grass plot just west of the CTA L tracks. Similar permits with the same listed parties were also issued last week for 4022 S Calumet Avenue, situated roughly a block to the northeast.
Facade work is drawing towards completion for a four-story residential building known as The Grace Apartments, located at 957 W Grace Street and 3763 N Sheffield Avenue in Lake View. MCZ Development is behind the 50-unit project, whose completed has been staggered across two separate phases. The already-completed portion houses 40 of the units, while the remaining 10 are in a still-in-progress wing located at the southern end. These two phases occupied separate parcels of land, for which the developer received approval to combine by the Committee on Zoning, Landmarks, and Building standards.
