Initial TIF Granted For South Shore Mixed-Use Development

Funding has been partially approved for part of the mixed-use development centered at 2935 E 79th Street in South Shore. Located on the corner with S Exchange Avenue in front of the Cheltenham/79th Street Metra station, the multi-lot project will redevelop a pair of existing buildings and create new opportunities for home ownership. Dubbed ‘Thrive Exchange’, developer DL3 Realty is working with KOO Architects and Site Design Group on the design of the proposal which won a 2021 Invest South/West RFP.

Permits Approved For Affordable Mixed-Use Development In Englewood

Initial construction permits have been approved for the first phase of the mixed-use Thrive Englewood development at 914 W 63rd Street in Englewood. Located on the corner with S Halsted Parkway near Kennedy-King College, the multi-phase project received City Council approval late last year and is now one step closer to breaking ground. Developer DL3 Realty has worked on similar projects nearby including the recently announced Washington Park National Bank building, and is working with Perkins + Will on Thrive’s design.

Permits Granted For Church Mixed-Use Redevelopment In Kenwood

Initial permits have been issued for the mixed-use development at 4601 S Ellis Avenue in Kenwood. Located on the southeast corner of the intersection with E 46th Street near Gwendolyn Brooks Park, the project will restore and renovate the existing St. James United Methodist Church complex and bring it back to life after being abandoned for some time now. Since we first covered the proposal in 2020, the team has remained the same with developer Creative Design Builders leading the charge along with ZED Architects the design.
