Details have been revealed for the expansion of the redevelopment of the former Maybelline headquarters at 5920 N Ridge Avenue in Edgewater. Located on the diagonal intersection with N Clark Street on the western edge of the neighborhood, the project will add on to the development called ‘The Mabel Exchange’. Efforts are being led by Ernst Development and Envoi Partners, with architecture-firm Hirsch MPG working on its design.
Initial details have been revealed for the mixed-use development at 2035 W Irving Park Road in North Center. Located on the southwest corner with N Seeley Avenue, the proposal will replace a small commercial building and its front parking lot. Efforts are being led by Altitude Capital Partners, with local firm Jonathan Splitt Architects working on its design.
Partial funding has been announced for the mixed-use development at 4528 S Cottage Grove Avenue in Bronzeville. Located mid-block between E 45th and 46th Streets, the project will redevelop an existing three-story building. Though an architect is unknown, the development is being led by Sunshine Management and Tigist Reda according to Block Club.
A community meeting has been held for the revised proposal for 400 N Elizabeth Street in Fulton Market. Bound by N Ogden Avenue to the west and W Kinzie Street to the south, the wedge-shaped lot was previously earmarked for a life-science building. However, last month developers Mark Goodman & Associates and Weldon Development Group revealed its new mixed-use plans for the site.
The construction of 400 Lake Shore Drive in Streeterville has recently advanced with a significant concrete pour, involving 250 truckloads delivering nine million pounds of concrete. The 72-story, 858-foot-tall tower is currently the tallest building under construction in the city and will be built on the site of the canceled Chicago Spire project. This first phase of a dual-skyscraper development by Related Midwest will span 1.1 million square feet and house 635 apartments, including 127 affordable housing units. Skidmore, Owings & Merrill’s Chicago office is leading the building’s design, with input from architect David Childs and the interior design by MAWD. The exterior features an interpretation of the iconic “Chicago Window” and incorporates a metal and glass facade with various setbacks, resulting in a distinctive sail-like shape.
