Details have been revealed for the first structure set to rise within the upcoming Riverline development at 1010 S Wells Street in the South Loop. Located south of the River City Apartments, Riverline was once part of a larger development that included what is now Southbank north of W Polk Street.
Renderings have been revealed for The Reed, the second residential tower at Southbank, as the entire development takes the 11th spot in YIMBY’s Chicago’s tallest developments countdown. Located on a 7.5-acre, waterfront site, Southbank is a megadevelopment that was split off from the original Riverline joint venture development by Lendlease and CMK Companies. The parcel is bound by W Harrison Street, S Wells Street, W Polk Street, and the Chicago River.
Fencing has been spotted at the future 7.5-acre site of Southbank, which is the northern half of the originally planned Riverline development in South Loop. In 2019, Riverline was split into two parts by its co-developers, Lendlease and CMK.
YIMBY has new photos of the site where Lendlease plans to build out the remainder of the northern portion of the Riverline complex. The seven-acre plot of land is already occupied by a walkway, a small park, and The Cooper, addressed as 720 S Wells Street, one of the five residential buildings planned for the property.
