Former Lincoln Park Hospital Site Lands Five More Single-Family Home Permits

Five new construction permits for single-family homes were issued by the City of Chicago over a one-week period earlier this month. Located on the site of the demolished Lincoln Park Hospital (Grant Hospital before an ownership and name change in the 1990s) at 550 West Webster Avenue, the five new homes join two others already in progress, and together they’ll form the Grant Place Residences when completed. Lincoln Park Hospital closed in 2008, and was permitted for demolition on June 6, 2012.

Proposal for 2120 W Webster Avenue In Bucktown Deferred to January

The Chicago Plan Commission has deferred at the request of the applicant the residential development at 2120 W Webster Avenue in Bucktown. Sitting on the intersection with N Hamilton Street, plans for the structure were revealed over a year ago and if approved on Jan 16, 2025, will replace a surface parking lot on the campus of St Hedwig Catholic Church.

Three Residential Units Top Out At 2718 North Racine Avenue In Lincoln Park

A three-unit residential building at 2718 North Racine Avenue in the Lincoln Park neighborhood has topped out at three stories, as exterior masonry work nears completion. The development replaces a two-story multi-unit residence demolished this summer. The new construction permit, issued by the City of Chicago on September 20, names Devise Development Group of River Forest as the developer.

Excavation Work Underway For Four-Flat At 1836 West Addison In North Center

Excavation work is underway for a new residential development at 1836 West Addison Street in North Center. Tir Conaill Concrete was assigned to teardown duties when a demolition permit was issued by the city back in August, and now that the previous home has been razed, they’re digging out the foundation for the future four-flat.

With Teardown Complete, Excavation Is Prepping A Lake View Four-Flat

Foundation work has begun for a new four-flat at 1210 West Wellington Avenue in Lake View, now that the previous structure has been torn down and rubble hauled away. Bachula Development Group is erecting the three-story with basement, four-condominium building on the site, having received a new construction permit (assigned to 1208 West Wellington) on the 13th of this month.

Permits Issued For Pilsen Foundry Lofts At 1600 S Laflin Street

Building permits have been issued for the redevelopment of the former Otis Elevator Company foundry at 1600 S Laflin Street in Pilsen. Sitting on the intersection with W 16th Street and bound by rail lines, the block-long building has sat vacant for years before plans were approved by the city over a year ago.

405 West Armitage Begins Taking Shape In Old Town

405 West Armitage, the new condominium development from Barrett Homes in the Old Town neighborhood, is taking form as it begins to rise above street level. Also performing general contractor duties as well as those of developer, Barrett broke ground on the project this fall, shortly after receiving a building permit from the City of Chicago that was issued on October 4. The site used to be home to a single-story brick building that most recently held a CVS store.

New plans have been revealed for the mixed-use development at 750 W North Avenue in Lincoln Park. This comes after the approval of previous plans for the site under a different developer lapsed, allowing for local developer Base 3 Real Estate to swoop in with a new proposal designed by Red Architects.

Zoning Approved For Residential Conversion Of 65 E Wacker Place

The Committee on Zoning has now approved the residential conversion of the historic Millinery Mart at 65 E Wacker Place in The Loop. Sitting right by the river and home to Morton’s The Steakhouse on its ground floor, efforts for the project are being led by local developer Mavrek Development.
