Permit Issued To Reconstruct Fire-Damaged Home In East Side

A permit has been issued by the City of Chicago that will allow the owner of a fire-damaged building in East Side to begin reconstruction. Located at 10121 South Avenue M, the original two-story frame building burned last summer; an emergency demolition permit was issued on August 15 to remove what remained. McDonagh Demolition was contracted to do the teardown.

Port Of Chicago Applies For Federal Grant To Rebuild Facility

The Illinois International Port District has applied for a grant to extensively restore its multi-site campus in East Side and South Deering. Formally located at 3600 E 95th Street and commonly known as the Port of Chicago, the massive facility has been slowly crumbling into the lake as funding continues to dry up. However, its governing body hopes to get the support of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s $34.5 million grant administered by the Maritime Administration.

Initial Plans Revealed For Off-Shore Wind Farm In Lake Michigan

Initial details have been revealed for a potential off-shore wind farm near 3600 E 95th Street in the East Side community area. Located near the Illinois International Port District close to the state line with Indiana, the new proposal seeks to create the first facility of its kind on the Great Lakes ahead of other states vying for the opportunity. The plans were introduced by State Representatives Marcus Evans Jr. and Robert Peters at a neighborhood meeting this past week in hopes of getting locals on board.
