Construction permits have been issued for the renovation and alteration of a three-story residential building located at 6727 S East End Avenue in the South Shore neighborhood. Owned by South Shore IL Preservation LP, the existing building currently houses 25 residential units. The renovation will involve a level one alteration with no structural changes to the building.

DesignBridge is the architect behind the renovation, which will include the replacement of existing finishes, plumbing fixtures with low-flow alternatives, energy-efficient lighting, and new kitchens. These upgrades aim to improve the living conditions for residents while adhering to environmentally conscious development practices.

The property is conveniently located near various public transit options. The closest rail transit option is the Metra, with the Stony Island station located a 12-minute walk south. Additionally, bus service for CTA Routes 5, 6, 15, 67, 95 just one minute’s walk north to 67th Street & East End.

LR Contracting Company has been appointed as the general contractor for this renovation project. The estimated cost for the project is $1,684,240, with an estimated completion date yet to be announced.

  1. Let’s hope the alterations and “updates” maintain the charm, character and quality of these buildings…..they have endured for a hundred years. (remember, home depot finishes won’t!).
