Concrete cores have risen to the top, and now the rest of 1237 North California Avenue will catch up, as construction continues in Humboldt Park. The Hispanic Housing Development Corporation, a nonprofit developer, is bringing 40 new residential units in a six-story building on the northeast corner of California and Crystal Street. Path Construction is the general contractor on the nearly $21 million project.

DesignBridge created the plans for the development, which will include 14 parking spaces on the first floor, plus an additional seven off-street parking spots outside. Resident amenities include bicycle storage, a laundry room, a community room, a business center, office spaces, a conference room, and a welcoming lobby.

Path Construction broke ground on the project in August of last year, about three months after the new nine-story Pedro Albizu Campos Apartments, another residential building from the Hispanic Housing Development Corporation a block south at 1203 North California, welcomed its first tenants. No word yet on when the HHDC expects to have 1237 North California open.

Residents here will live within a one-block walk of north-south CTA bus service via the Route 94 California bus, and east-west service via the Route 70 Division bus. The nearest elevated train access is almost a mile and a half east, at Division and Ashland, but the 70 bus can be used to connect with the subway station there.

Well, I’m looking for one bedroom.Low-income section 8.
Cause I had a studio where it was too small cause.I got custody of my son so I get him 2 months. It was so small that I had to get out of there. I used to live 1152 North Christiano Avenue, so now I’m looking for one bedroom
