Landmark Status for Old Town’s Netsch House Advances to City Hall

The Commission on Chicago Landmarks has given the green light to a final landmark recommendation for the historic Netsch House. Situated at 1700 N Hudson Avenue, the iconic residence was constructed in 1974 by renowned architect Walter Netsch for himself and his wife, the trailblazing Dawn Clark Netsch. While the house is nestled within the Old Town Triangle Historic District, it currently lacks official designation as a contributing structure.

Renovation Permit Issued for 3941 W Wellington Avenue in Logan Square

Renovation permits have been issued for 3941 W Wellington Avenue, a four-unit residential building in Logan Square. The owner of the property is Matt Fisher, who plans to convert the existing two-story building into five units, per plans. The project received a zoning variation approval on November 21, 2022.

Plan Commission Approves Mixed-Use Tower At 1234 W Randolph Street in Fulton Market

The Chicago Plan Commission has approved the mixed-use development at 1234 W Randolph Street in Fulton Market. Located along the busy corridor just east of the intersection with N Elizabeth Street, the upcoming high-rise has gone through various changes to its podium after presenting in front of the Committee on Design late last year. Now developers Azur Holdings and Golub & Company are moving forward with the latest iteration of the SCB-designed project, which was originally pitched as a hotel replacing the two small commercial structures on site.

Permit Issued for 6556 S Minerva Avenue in Woodlawn

Construction permits have been issued for a new residential development at 6556 S Minerva Avenue in Woodlawn. The planned building will be a four-story masonry structure with nine dwelling units. The owner, Kingston DTA Group LLC, will replace a vacant lot that previously occupied the site.

Updated Plans Revealed For Affordable Housing Development In Grand Boulevard

Updated details have been revealed for the mixed-use development at 4500-4556 S State Street in Grand Boulevard. Located between W 45th Street and W 46th Street, the multi-phase project will replace a vacant lot just north of the Colman School CPS offices and on the former site of the Robert Taylor Homes. Being developed by the Chicago Department of Housing (DOH) itself, the proposal has gone through a handful of revisions prior to their zoning application for the Brook Architecture-designed buildings.

800 W Lake Street Returns As Residential Development In Fulton Market

New plans have been announced for the mixed-use development at 800 W Lake Street in Fulton Market. Located on the corner with N Halsted Street, the proposed high-rise will replace a now vacant lot that previously held a strip of small commercial buildings including a corner bar. Now after a few years of delay and a sell off, a new team made up of Ascend Real Estate and Intercontinental Real Estate Group has returned with an updated program for the GREC Architects-designed tower according to their recent zoning application.

Renovation Permit Issued for 2852 W Polk Street in Tri-Taylor

Renovation permits have been issued for a residential project at 2852 W Polk Street in the East Garfield Park. South Side Realty LLC, the property owner, plans to revamp the existing two-story masonry building, which currently contains two dwelling units. The renovation will maintain the R-5 residential use and occupancy, and the project includes replacing the rear porch. Architectronic Solutions is responsible for the design of the interior renovation.

Renderings Revealed For 6044 N Winthrop Avenue in Edgewater

Updated renderings have been revealed for the residential building at 6044 N Winthrop Avenue in Edgewater. Located just south of the intersection with W Glenlake Avenue, the project will replace a surface parking lot just east of the CTA tracks that run over its rear alley. Developer North Park Ventures is behind the upcoming building designed by local firm Kennedy Mann.

Renovation Permits Issued for 6727 S East End Avenue in South Shore

Construction permits have been issued for the renovation and alteration of a three-story residential building located at 6727 S East End Avenue in the South Shore neighborhood. Owned by South Shore IL Preservation LP, the existing building currently houses 25 residential units. The renovation will involve a level one alteration with no structural changes to the building.

Construction Progresses for Nine Single-Family Homes at 5338-56 W Argyle Avenue in Jefferson Park

With foundation work beginning late last year, construction is progressing rapidly for a collection of nine single family residences at 5338-56 W Argyle Avenue at the corner of W Argyle Street and N Long Avenue in Jefferson Park. Developed by MK Construction & Builders and designed by Beata Klak, each of the homes will stand three stories and occupy 3,200 square feet. Each is expected to sell for $800,000.
