Following the issuance of a full permit at the beginning of the year, construction equipment can now be seen at 633 S LaSalle Street in South Loop. Developed by The Collective, the 18-story residential building is slated to rise on the former grounds of a surface parking lot, introducing a co-living model across 117 apartment suites and 381 beds.
A construction permit is now approved for a residential project at 6502 S Maryland Avenue in the Woodlawn neighborhood. The development will consist of a three-story, three-unit residential masonry building, replacing a previously vacant space. Jack Properties LLC owns the project.
An official groundbreaking has been held for the mixed-use development at 1959 W Lake Street in the Near West Side. Located on the intersection with N Damen Avenue adjacent to the CTA tracks and upcoming Damen Green Line station, the project dubbed Westhaven Park IID is the final phase of the greater Westhaven Park development near the United Center. Developers Brinshore Development, The Michaels Organization, and the Chicago Housing Authority worked with local firm Landon Bone Baker on its design.
A demolition permit has been approved for a two-story masonry multi-unit building and a detached frame garage at 1218 W Cornelia Avenue in Lake View. The structure is a pale masonry residential building, whose owner is 1218 W Cornelia LLC and whose planned replacement currently remains unknown.
South Loop is poised for another step in its southward density push following City Council approval of a new two-building affordable residential development.
