Construction Progresses at City Club Apartments MDA Phase II in The Loop

Construction work is progressing at City Club Apartments MDA Phase II, a seven-story mixed-use development at 60 E Benton Place in The Loop. Located on a corner lot at the intersection of N Wabash Avenue and E Benton Place, the project is an expansion of the existing City Club Apartments, located adjacent to it at 63 E Lake Street. The building is designed by architect Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture and developed by City Club Apartments MDA II LLC. Norcon, Inc. is listed as the general contractor for the project.

Permits Filed for 3253 N Elston Avenue in Avondale

Permits were filed recently for a four-story residential building at 3253 N Elston Avenue in Avondale. The lot currently sits empty, as the three-floor duplex home once on the property was demolished between 2016 and 2017.

Permits were filed in July for 4930 N Damen Avenue in Ravenswood, where a three-story residential building is planned. The narrow site is a one-minute walk north from bus route 8’s Damen & Argyle stop. Nearby Metra access includes Ravenswood station, a nine-minute walk southeast. Nearby CTA L access is a seven-minute walk directly south to Damen station. Another point of interest is the nearby Winnemac Park, a two-minute walk north. Additionally, just a 14-minute walk southwest is the major Lincoln Square intersection of N Western Avenue, W Lawrence Avenue, and N Lincoln Avenue, which hosts a multitude of restaurants, bars, and shops.

Renovation permits have been filed for Cunningham Hall, a nine-story residential building originally designed by famous German architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe in 1955, at the Illinois Institute of Technology. Located at 3100 S Michigan Avenue on the northeastern edge of the main campus in Bronzeville, the structure was built by Mies van der Rohe as part of his campus plan and used as on-campus apartments. The nearest CTA L station is the 35th Bronzeville IIT stop, serviced by the Green Line, a five-minute walk away. You can catch the 31, 1, or 4 CTA Bus at the corner of E 31st Street and S Michigan Avenue, steps from the property. Illinois Institute of Technology is listed as the owner behind the applications.

Permits have been filed for two towers in the West Loop. The first tower, at 1400 W Randolph Street, will be a 25-story mixed-use building. The second tower, at 1440 W Randolph Street will be an 11-story residential structure. The project site is located along W Randolph Street, with 1400 W Randolph sitting on a corner lot at the intersection of W Randolph Street and N Ogden Avenue. 1440 W Randolph Avenue sits on an interior lot along W Randolph Street between N Ogden Avenue and W Lake Street, across the street from Union Park. The nearest public transportation is Ashland CTA L station, serviced by the Green and Pink Lines, a five-minute walk away from either property. MP Union Park LLC is listed as the owner behind the applications, likely an LLC for Marquette Companies, a local real estate company, who is developing both properties simultaneously.
