Details have been revealed for the residential conversion of the office building at 500 N Michigan Avenue on the Magnificent Mile. Sitting on the intersection with E Illinois Street and across from the famed Intercontinental Chicago, the mostly vacant structure is going to be redeveloped by Commonwealth Development Partners who just submitted a zoning application.

Foundation work is underway for an eight-unit residential building at 2100 West 18th Place in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood. The four-story development got a construction permit from the City of Chicago on March 27 of this year. That permit indicates these will be rental units by specifying the word “apartments” and also calls for four outdoor parking spaces. It lists Fox Pilsen 4 as the developer, and FGAC Construction as the general contractor. Both companies appear to be affiliates of R.P. Fox & Associates in Oak Park, Illinois. DesignBridge is the architect of record for the project.
A permit application has been submitted for the first of three towers at 370 N Morgan Street in Fulton Market. Located on the intersection with W Kinzie Street, the multi-phase project has been in development since 2022 and appears to be moving forward as interest rates soften. Developer Vista Property Group had received all of the necessary city approvals last year already.
A demolition permit has been issued by the City of Chicago for the three-story multi-residence at 1150 West Diversey Parkway in Lake View. That’s also the former home of Lynn’s Hair & Spa, which appears to have moved around the corner onto Lincoln Avenue, according to a Facebook posting. The teardown will create a lot for a three-unit building on the site, to be developed by a local LLC. The demolition permit was issued August 29, naming Tir Conaill Concrete as the demo contractor. Real estate sites show the building was constructed in the 1880s; it sold in May of this year for $625,000.
