The city of Chicago has issued a new construction permit for the fourth and final parcel on a vacant lot in Bronzeville. 3954 South Indiana Avenue, permitted on January 13, joins 3944, 3948, and 3950, with those three having received permission back in December 2024.
Initial zoning has been approved for the residential expansion of the existing property at 1239 N Wood Street in Wicker Park. Announced several years ago, the project has faced a fair amount of scrutiny from its surrounding neighbors due to density and traffic. However, the Committee on Zoning has given the proposal the green light to be reviewed by the City Council.
Renderings have been revealed for a pair of upcoming South Loop projects that have been in the works for a few years. Located at 1630, 1700, and 1730 S Wabash Avenue, we’ve only seen elevations of one of these as the others are set to rise as-of-right. All three proposals are being led by CMK Companies, who updated their site with the images.
The first few levels of exterior glass have been installed on 1717 Michigan, the South Loop residential building from CMK Companies formerly known as 1723 South Michigan. The construction site is also notable for what it doesn’t have: a tower crane. That’s been taken down now that the building is topped out. The construction hoist at the south end of the structure will do the rest of the heavy lifting from here on out.
A construction permit has been issued for a new residential development at 5752-54 South Indiana Avenue in the Washington Park neighborhood. Dated January 10, 2025, the permit allows for a three-story, six-unit building with six surface parking spaces. The entity of Chicago Rental 79 LLC is named as the developer, with Danny’s Construction Group of Lemont, IL performing general contractor duties.
