Chicago Plan Commission Approves 11-Story, 90-Unit Affordable Building In Edgewater

The Chicago Plan Commission on March 20 approved a proposal from Bickerdike Redevelopment Corporation to construct 90 units of affordable housing at 5853 North Broadway in Edgewater. The approval allows rezoning of the property from B1-2 Neighborhood Shopping District to B2-5 Neighborhood Mixed-Use District. Bickerdike gains the approval three years after first presenting their plans for the project.

Habitat For Humanity Lands A Permit For Four Townhomes In West Pullman

A new construction permit was issued March 18 allowing Habitat For Humanity Chicago to build four townhomes on West 115th Street in the West Pullman neighborhood. Each building will be a two-story home designed by Kennedy Mann, and there will be a pair of three-vehicle garages built for residents to share. The project site is a vacant lot spanning approximately 921 to 957 West 115th; there is a lot of space for building. As of now, there are no other pending permits for homes on the site.

Chicago Plan Commission Approves Residential Conversion Of 1006 South Michigan Avenue

The Chicago Plan Commission on Thursday approved the conversion of the Graphic Arts Building at 1006 South Michigan Avenue in the South Loop from offices to residential use. The project required a change to Business Planned Development No. 1323, which includes the newly-opened 1000M residential tower next door at 1000 South Michigan. Two members of that development team, JK Equities and Oak Capitals, are the tandem working on the residential conversion. FitzGerald is the design firm for the project.
