Permits have now been issued for a new residential development at 4543 S Ellis Avenue in North Kenwood. Located on an unusually wide Chicago lot within a row of historical stone homes north of E 46th Street, the small project is being developed by Exbud LLC. Due to being within the North Kenwood Historic District, the project needed to take into consideration its surroundings and fit in within the site context.
Construction has recently been completed on a new boutique residential building located at 2423 S State Street in Near South Side. The rental development is the result of the efforts by City Pads and is part of a two-phase plan known as “Common McCormick”.
New construction permits have been issued for a four-story, multi-unit residential building located at 1533 W Fry Street in West Town. RED Architects is behind the design, while K2 Studio is the architect of record. Plans indicate six units with front- and rear-covered open decks on the first floor, covered open front decks on the third floor, an open rear rooftop deck, and a four-story open egress stairwell. Plans also include a detached six-vehicle garage and two off-street parking spaces with electric charging stations.
The 46th Ward Alderman has announced his support for the rezoning of the residential development at 4701 N Clark Street in Uptown. Alderman James Cappleman released a press report backing the project, located just north of the intersection with W Leland Avenue. It will be replacing a one-story drive-thru bank that currently sits vacant, with developer Platinum Homes proposing the new multi-story building designed by 360 Design Studio across the street from Chase Park.
The Chicago City Council has approved the residential development at 2821 N Orchard Street in Lake View East. Located just north of the intersection with W Diversey Parkway, the small project will replace an over 100-year-old three-story home slot in between a parking garage and a double-wide three-flat structure. The developer is quite unique in that it is the Estate of Kathy A. Poczatek and is working with local design firm Hanna Architects.
