Updated Plans Revealed For 5853 N Broadway In Edgewater

Updated plans have been revealed for the affordable residential development at 5853 N Broadway in Edgewater. Located south of the intersection with W Thorndale Avenue and adjacent to the Broadway Armory Community Center, the new structure will replace a one-story building and its parking lot with much needed vertical density. We last covered the project in April of last year as its initial design was released, now an updated design has been made public of the proposal by Bickerdike Redevelopment Corporation, with Landon Bone Baker Architects working on the new aesthetic.

Residential Development Approved Across From Wrigley Field

The Chicago City Council has approved the residential development at 1040 W Waveland Avenue in Wrigleyville. Located just west of the intersection with N Sheffield Avenue and directly north from the namesake Wrigley Field, the new structure will replace an existing three-story residential building erected in 1910. Local developer Glascott Associates proposed the project mid-last year with edits made in the fall prior to applying for rezoning. SPACE Architects + Planners is working on its design.

DPD Announces Finalist For Central Manufacturing District Redevelopment In McKinley Park

The Chicago Department of Planning and Development has announced the three finalists for the redevelopment of the city-owned warehouse at 1769 W Pershing Road in McKinley Park. Located slightly west of the intersection with S Ashland Avenue, the Request For Proposal (RFP) called for applicants to imagine a new use for the easternmost structure of the historical Central Manufacturing District. The RFP also allowed for the applicants to include an adjacent one-story industrial building and parking lot as well.

Initial plans have been revealed for the residential conversion of the existing commercial building at 153 W Ohio Street in River North. Located just west of the intersection with N LaSalle Street and across the street from the famed Ohio House Hotel, the project comes at a time where residential conversions are ramping up in the city including just down LaSalle Street. Local developer Senco Properties is leading the way with Chicago-based FitzGerald Associates working on the design.

Mixed-Use Development Proposed For 250 W 22nd Place In Chinatown

Plans have been revealed for the mixed-use development at 250 W 22nd Place in Chinatown. Located just west of the intersection with S Wentworth Avenue, the project comes at a time when Chicago’s Chinatown seems to be growing and maintaining its identity compared to others nationally. The proposal will replace the existing two-story Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association (CCBA) building and its adjacent lots with a new singular structure. The development team is made up of the CCBA and the Michaels Development Company who have tapped WJW Architects for the design.
