Some three-dimensional progress is visible on the condominium development at 453 West Briar Place in the Lake View East neighborhood. GVP Development is erecting a five-story, six-unit building here with an attached 12-car garage. Foundations were permitted back in November 2023, with a full permit issued on May 21, 2024 that included a reported cost of $6.5 million.
Construction has yet to begin on a four-story plus basement, two-unit residential building at 1150 West Diversey Parkway in Lake View that was permitted in November. Late last month, a second permit was issued for the property, allowing for a garage off the alley at the back of the lot. So far, only weeds and graffiti have sprung up from the site.
626 South Wabash has passed the halfway point, as the crew from Clark Construction works on the 19-story residential tower’s 13th floor in the South Loop. The concrete core stands about 15 stories high at the center of the building, with only a few more levels left to grow.
For the third time in three years, a renovation permit has been issued for a two-unit greystone at 5250 South Indiana Avenue in Washington Park. Plans to do a gut rehab on the building were first approved in 2023, with a follow-up permit issued in March 2024 to include an Additional Dwelling Unit. Now, permission has been granted to a new owner to continue that effort, while also repairing fire damage to the structure.
A residential development has been proposed for construction in Lake View at 3909 North Ashland Avenue. Alderwoman Angela Clay of the 46th Ward announced the plans in her weekly newsletter on Friday, September 12. The plans are preliminary, and the process is only just beginning.
