Updated details have been released for the residential project at 2548 S Federal Street in Douglas. Dubbed SL Solar Lofts, the site is bound by W 26th Street to the south, the Metra Rock Island tracks to the west and Stevenson Expressway to the north. The project will rehab and partially expand the existing industrial building into apartments. The previous owner, JDC Group Inc., recently sold the property to its current developer 548 Capital who has taken over the previously detailed plans from Red Architects.
Updated details have been revealed for the mixed-use development at 210 N Morgan Street in the West Loop. Located just south of the intersection with W Fulton Street, the new building would replace an empty lot and an existing one-story masonry structure, adding extra density just north of the recently financed 160 N Morgan Street. Developer New Castle is familiar with the West Loop having worked on various other nearby projects and is working with local architecture firm Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture, who recently relocated from their nearby office.
Structural work has now passed the first floor for “The Seng,” part of the second phase of Structured Development‘s masterplan known as the Shops at Big Deahl. Located at 869 W Blackhawk Street in the Clybourn Avenue corridor, this new mid rise will yield 34 affordable units, whose future residents will be chosen by the Chicago Community Land Trust alongside the Chicago Department of Housing.
Initial details have been revealed for a mixed-use development at 3831 W Chicago Avenue in Humboldt Park. Located on the corner with N Avers Avenue, the new construction will replace a series of city-owned empty lots and three empty one-story masonry clad industrial buildings the developer now owns. The project is being led by 548 Development, who has worked on various Invest South/West proposals, with local firm Lamar Johnson Collaborative working on its modern design.
Below-grade foundation work can be seen at the site of 1021 W Polk Street in Little Italy, where a new three-story residential development has been planned. Prior to construction, the lot was occupied by a two-story brick building that underwent demolition last year.
