This 18-floor residential building, undertaken by The Collective, is being developed on a site that was formerly a surface parking lot. The design of the building is tailored for co-living, comprising 117 apartment suites with a capacity to accommodate up to 381 residents.

Sitting on a wedge-shaped lot with N Marshfield Avenue running along the rear, the new building will replace a handful of existing structures including the home of Dinkel’s Bakery. Developer PCR Group has been working with Jonathan Splitt Architects on the design while pursuing a rezoning of the site.

Construction permits have been applied for with the city for the mixed-use development at 566 W Van Buren Street in West Loop Gate. Sitting on the corner with S Jefferson Street, the project was first announced last year when it received permits for and proceeded with the demolition of two building’s on the site. The Antunovich Associates-designed structure is being proposed by a team made up of Riverside Investment and Blue Star Properties.
