Mixed-Use Redevelopment Proposed for Old Orchard Mall in Skokie

Initial details have been revealed for the mixed-use redevelopment of the Westfield Old Orchard mall in Skokie. Located in Chicago’s northern suburbs on the southwest corner of Old Orchard Road and Skokie Boulevard, the mall first opened its doors with Marshall Fields in 1956 and has been a staple for the local community ever since. Paris-based owner and developer Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield is leading the plans which mimic similar approaches at other malls in America as they pivot to capture new shoppers and tenants.

Details Revealed For West Loop Office Tower At 357 N Green Street

Details have been revealed for a new mixed-use development at 357 N Green Street in the West Loop. The final of the three-proposal being presented in this month’s Committee on Design meeting including the 600-foot-tall 420 N May Street, this tower will replace a vacant lot just north of the Metra tracks on the corner with W Kinzie Street. Proposed by Canadian-based Onni Group, this project is being designed by local architecture-firm SCB and will sit over the Kennedy Expressway below.

Printers Row’s 633 S LaSalle Street Takes 22nd Place

Chicago’s 22nd tallest development in this year’s countdown is the 18-story 633 S LaSalle Street in Printers Row. Replacing a surface parking lot across the street from the rails of LaSalle Street station, the building will be located one block west from 2020’s 26th tallest entry, the Imprint apartment tower. Led by London-based developer The Collective, the co-living project was designed by local-firm Fitzgerald Associates along with Berkelhamer Architects and began excavation earlier this summer. As of now, the site is awaiting additional foundation work.

600-Foot Tower Proposed for 420 N May Street in Fulton Market

A new tallest is coming to both Fulton Market and the broader West Loop as Crescent Heights recently proposed a 52-story skyscraper located at 420 N May Street. The structure will stand 600 feet, surpassing the nearby 900 Randolph Street that is already dominating the emerging western skyline. The mixed-use tower will house a total of 587 apartment units atop 3,100 square feet of retail and 339 total parking spaces.

311 W Huron Ranks 23rd in Chicago Tallest Countdown

The podium structure is now filling out for 311 W Huron Street in River North, marking the 23rd tallest construction project in Chicago. Developer North Wells Capital is building a 16-story office and retail commercial tower, which will stand 226 feet upon its completion. In 2022, the developer secured an $88 million lease with Spins, which will occupy three of the building’s highest leasable floors.
