Extensive Structural Work Spotted at Sears Department Store Redevelopment in Portage Park

The former Sears department store site, located at 4712 W Irving Park Road in Portage Park has undergone extensive construction since YIMBY’s last update. With Novak Construction as developer and general contractor, a comprehensive demolition was carried out earlier this year, making way for a $90 million adaptive re-use project. The six-story development is one of several, including the recently-covered Clarendale Six Corners, meant to enliven the intersection of Milwaukee and Cicero Avenues and Irving Park Road. It should be noted however that, according to an article by Nadig Newspapers, the project did receive a stop-work order from the city this week for performing work outside the scope of issued permits.

Construction on the 10-story Clarendale Six Corners development is nearing completion in Chicago’s Portage Park neighborhood. The mixed-use project includes 18,000 square feet of ground-level retail space, 258 senior living apartments and a variety of integrated amenities. The project, located at 4715 W Irving Park Road, is developed by Ryan Companies, LCS, and Harrison Street Real Estate Capital.

Structural beams for 1020 W Randolph Street in Fulton Market District are now reaching their final height. This five-story mixed-use development by L3 Capital will have ground-floor retail and boutique Class A offices on the upper levels. The amenity enclosure on the top of the building will be accompanied by a 1,850-square-foot rooftop deck. The 22,000 square feet of interior space features sleek finishes, living walls, and expansive warehouse-style windows.
