Foundation work is now underway for a 30-story mixed-use high rise at 1400 S Wabash Avenue in South Loop. The developer CMK Companies plans for 299 total units atop ground-level retail. Replacing a long-vacant lot, the 316-foot-tall structure is poised to contribute to South Loop’s expanding high rise cluster.

Demolition can be seen at the site of 4501 N Sheridan Road in Uptown. Formerly a single-story masonry commercial building, the clearing of this structure will give rise to a new five-story mixed-use replacement. This new building will be addressed as 948 W Sunnyside Avenue, and has been planned by Mavrek Development. Programming will comprise of 59 residential units atop a ground-level lobby and retail space.
Work on the exterior walls continues to progress for 4410 N Clark Street, a four-story development in Uptown. With Stan Bernshteyn as the developer, the scope of the mixed-use project includes 25 apartment dwellings atop ground-floor retail.
Final touches remain for the 26-story Parq Fulton tower, having topped out last summer at a height of 282 feet. Marquette Companies is the developer behind this mixed-use West Loop project, which integrates 10,000 square feet of retail and 278 rental apartments. With its address at 1400 W Randolph Street, the nearly complete structure replaces a low-rise commercial building and a parking lot.
This week, the Chicago-based developer known as The Habitat Company announced its acquisition of 344 N Canal Street, which will give rise to a new 33-story mixed-use tower in the Fulton River District. The joint project with Diversified Real Estate Capital, LLC is set to yield a ground-level retail component and a total of 343 rental units. Unit layouts will vary in size between studios, one-bedrooms, and two-bedroom residences.
