A new urban farm development construction permit has been issued at 2943 W Fifth Avenue in Garfield Park.
The project will feature a propagation hoop shed, an outdoor plant area, and bee hives, converting the vacant lot into an urban farm space. Tracy Boychuk is the listed owner of the project, while Branyo Dvorak of Perimeter Architects is the architect of record.
A third permit for the expansion of Advocate Illinois Masonic Hospital in Lake View has been approved, clearing the way for full-scale construction. The project at 900 W Nelson Street consists of two sub-phases, eventually leading to the construction of an eight-story hospital wing.
A renovation permit has been approved for alterations at an existing edifice at 58 W Huron Street in River North. The property, owned by Rush Oak LLC, is a three-story office building. The planned work involves significant structural changes, specifically the removal of the masonry bearing walls down the center of the building and their replacement with steel beams and columns to support the floor loads of the second and third floors as well as the roof. The renovations will not result in changes to the building’s use, size, or occupancy.
The Guinness Open Gate Brewery Chicago continues its transformation at 375 N Morgan Street in Fulton Market. The project, housed within the former Pennsylvania Railroad Terminal building and adjacent to the ongoing construction 360 N Green Street, boasts a newly painted exterior of brick walls. This single-story establishment is set to become the second location in the U.S. for the brewing company, the first being in Baltimore.
A new construction permit has been granted for a multi-family residential development situated at 2720 W 23rd Street in the Little Village neighborhood. The property will be developed by Knightsbridge Developments LLC, replacing a vacant grass lot.
