Site prep and caisson work is now visible for a new five-story educational building at 900 W Taylor Street, located near the southern edge of The University of Illinois Chicago‘s main campus. Known as the UIC Computer Design Research and Learning Center (CDRLC), the new 135,000-square-foot facility will cling to an existing mid-century building that houses various engineering departments and research centers.
Final glazing and cladding work is taking place for a new 26-story high rise at 1400 W Randolph Street in Fulton Market District. Now branded as Parq Fulton, the development by Marquette Companies is replacing a one-story masonry commercial building and an adjacent parking lot. The 282-foot-tall mixed-use high rise will yield 278 new apartments and 10,000 square feet of ground-level retail.
A permit was approved late last week for a new three-story residential building to be located at 3651 N Damen Avenue in North Center. The owner is listed under the name 3651 Damen LLC, with plans for three total units and a three-car garage. The building will be replacing a two-story brick residence.
Demolition of the former Archer Daniels Midland Wheat Mill (ADM) is now complete, with a secondary twist seen on its grounds. The property, located at 1300 W Carroll Avenue in West Loop and owned by Sterling Bay, has now installed a sign with several clues that construction may be around the corner.
