YIMBY has a snapshot of what Chicago could look like ten years from now, based on a list of developments at different stages. Several of the projects are much more plausible and already underway, whereas others are still conceptual.
YIMBY spotted what appears to be a test facade piece on the lot of 1325 W Fulton Market, a project developed by Sterling Bay and designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. Located at the west end of the rising Fulton Market neighborhood, the site is located at the corner of W Fulton Market and N Ada Street, just across from Sterling Bay’s Fulton West at 1330 W Fulton Market. Nearby bus transit is a nine-minute walk southwest to the 9 route’s Ashland & Lake stop, as well as a nine-minute walk southeast to the 19 route’s Washington & Racine bus stop. Nearby CTA L stops include a seven-minute walk southwest to Ashland Station and a ten-minute walk southeast to Morgan Station, both of which are serviced by the Green and Pink Lines.
Permits were filed recently for the Alcove Wicker Park phase of Vermillion Development’s 55-unit residential project at 1650 W Division Street, consisting of 12 townhouses. In total, the project is expected to cost $15 million to build. Vermillion Wicker Park Development, LLC is listed as the owner, while Howard Hirsch of Hirsch MPG is listed as the architect of record.
Imprint Apartments has fully topped out and is nearing completion at 717 S Clark Street in Printer’s Row, a small, yet vibrant neighborhood just south of the core Loop district. Rising 315 feet tall with 31 stories, it is the neighborhood’s tallest building, just surpassing the neighboring Burnham Pointe apartment building that opened in 2008.
Foundation work is complete for a three-story high school at 5437 W 64th Place in the Clearing neighborhood of Chicago. Permits were issued in May this year, and now steel rebar and concrete blocks can be seen forming the columns and exterior walls of the structure.
