An initial approval has been granted for the redevelopment of the Hoyt Building at 465 W Cermak Road in Chinatown. Located along the south branch of the Chicago River on the corner with S Canal Street, the historic building shed its previous developer a few months ago as we covered the updated proposal revealed last January. Now Aurora-based developer Windfall Group received approval from the Permit Review Committee for the SPACE Architects + Planners designed proposal.

1203 N California Avenue Now Topped Out in Humboldt Park

Since our previous coverage in May, the nine-story structure at 1203 N California Avenue in Humboldt Park has reached its full height. The 83,000-square-foot mixed-use building stands where an empty lot used to be, opposite the Humboldt Park grounds. The project is led by the Hispanic Housing Development Corporation, with architectural design by Pappageorge Haymes. The plan includes 2,500 square feet of retail space on the ground level and 64 affordable housing units on the upper floors.

Coppia Approaches Full Height in West Loop

The 19-story development at 1101 W Van Buren Street, named Coppia is nearing its full height in West Loop. Located between two pre-existing residential towers, Coppia fills a previously unoccupied space in the area. The mixed-use project by Pizzuti Development plans to offer 298 apartment units, ranging from studio designs to three-bedroom layouts, with penthouses occupying the top two levels. The podium will contain space for commercial use, along with an 82-car garage.

Updated Renderings Revealed For Canal Station In South Loop

Updated renderings have been revealed for the renovation for the structure dubbed Canal Station at 801 S Canal Street in the South Loop. The massive building is located on the southeastern corner with W Polk Street just south of the Old Post Office, thus the property’s new owners hope to cash in on the area’s growing appeal for office relocations in recent years. Developers 601W Companies and The Telos Group are behind the project and are working with SCB on its design.
