The development at 140 North Ashland Avenue is advancing, with fiber cement installation now well underway for this 12-story mixed-use project in the Near West Side. Marquette Companies, the developer, has combined this new structure with a pre-existing five-story brick building from the 1920s on its southern boundary. Upon completion, the building will contain 210 apartments above retail establishments on the ground level.

Located on the intersection with W Van Buren Street directly across from the Harold Washington Library, the project was originally announced in 2021. Dubbed Assemble Chicago, it is being developed by The Community Builders with Studio Gang, DesignBridge, and JAQ working on its design.

The Chicago Plan Commission has approved the mixed-use development at 800 W Lake Street in Fulton Market. Located on the corner with N Halsted Street at the eastern edge of the neighborhood, the project is the latest iteration of proposals for the site that previously held a few commercial buildings. Developers Ascend Real Estate and Intercontinental Real Estate Group are working with GREC Architects on the current design.
