Dead by Design #5: 7 South Dearborn Street in The Loop

Next in our “Dead by Design” series of cancelled Chicago supertowers, we have a 112-story tower originally planned for 7 S Dearborn Avenue in The Loop. The mixed-use skyscraper would have measured 1,567 feet to its roof, marking what would have been its official height. However, the structure would have also been accompanied by three 433-foot-tall antennas that would have brought its pinnacle height to 2,000 feet, just one foot higher than last week’s Miglin-Beitler Skyneedle.

Updated Renderings Revealed For 1475 N Kingsbury Street In Near North Side

Updated renderings have been revealed for the tallest building of the Shops at Big Deahl development at 1475 N Kingsbury Street in the Near North Side. Located directly on the corner with W Blackhawk Street, the tower is part of the multi-structure project that is quickly rising near the Chicago River and Wild Mile park. Developer Structured Development is working with Fitzgerald Associates Architects on its design near the Clybourn Corridor area, with Power Construction executing its build out.

Updated Details Revealed For 330 N Green Street In Fulton Market

Updated details have been revealed for the mixed-use development at 330 N Green Street in Fulton Market. Located just north of the intersection with W Wyman Street, the project replaces an empty lot that once held the Coyne College building. Developer Sterling Bay also built the structure across the street at 333 N Green Street as well as the one to the north at 360 N Green Street. Being one of the main driving forces in the neighborhood, they have partnered with Gensler for the new design of the building which was originally proposed a few years back.

Caisson work can be seen on the two adjacent sites at 868 N Wells Street and 232 W Chestnut Street, where developer JDL has planned the second and third installations to their North Union mega development. The scope of this larger $1.3 billion masterplan include more than 2.9 million square feet of space, 2,656 residences, an abundance of new commercial units, and 100,000 square feet of public areas.

Metal Installation Presses Forward for 4600 N Kenmore Avenue in Uptown

Installation of polygonal metal paneling can now be seen along the outer walls of 4600 Kenmore Avenue, a six-story mixed-use building in Uptown. The project is being lead by Cedar Street Companies, with plans for 2,500 square feet of retail on the ground level with 62 rental apartments above. The new construction will be next to an old bank at 1020 W Wilson Avenue, which is being transformed into a new music venue for Double Door Music.
