Work has topped out for a new five-story mixed-use building at 4501 N Sheridan Avenue in Uptown. Planned by Mavrek Development and formerly the site of a single-story masonry commercial building, the new structure will house ground-level retail topped by a total of 59 residential apartments.
With the last of the exterior wrapping up, construction is coming to a close for 166 N Aberdeen Street, aka One Six Six. This 21-story mixed-use tower by Greystar marks the 18th tallest construction project in the city, rising 224 feet in height. Now standing its full 224-foot height, the high rise is set to house 224 rental apartments atop ground-level retail.
Initial details have been revealed for a mixed-use development at 1549 N Fremont Street in the Near North Side. Located just south of the intersection with W North Avenue, the U-shaped structure will replace a surface parking lot surrounded by the multi-story Toyota dealership garage with an outer wall that partially collapsed this year after a windstorm. Local developer CityPads Chicago, responsible for other residential buildings in the city, is leading the project for which the architect is currently unknown.
This year’s countdown continues with The Lydian at 513 S Damen Avenue in the Illinois Medical District taking the 19th place. The structure claimed the 19th place in last year’s countdown as well when it had recently broken ground, but now the development races towards completion just south of the intersection with W Congress Parkway. Local developer Marquette Companies, who is also behind a handful of projects around the West Loop’s Union Park, is leading the charge with architecture firm Brininstool + Lynch having worked on its design.
Metal cladding is getting closer to completion for 4600 Kenmore Avenue, a six-story mixed-use building in Uptown. Under development by Cedar Street Companies, the project will offer 2,500 square feet of retail space at ground level and 62 rental apartments above.
