A construction permit has been issued for a new mixed-use development at 3914 S Lake Park Avenue in Oakland. The approved permit allows for the construction of a four-story building with six residential units and ground-floor retail. The new development, owned by Jacek Bohaschuk, will replace a vacant lot.
The Chicago city council has approved the mixed-use development at 357 N Green Street in the West Loop. Sitting on a unique wedged lot with N Halsted Street to the east, the site has long been vacant as it is traversed by the Kennedy Expressway on the northeast corner and is surrounded by different modes of transit. However now Canadian-developer Onni Group, who recently revealed their redesigned tower for Halsted Pointe nearby, is tackling the challenge with SCB serving as the architect and Confluence working on its landscape design.
The Chicago City Council has approved the latest plans for 1300 W Carroll Avenue in the West Loop. Located on the corner with N Elizabeth Street just north of the upcoming 225 N Elizabeth in the westward expanding skyline, it replaces the now vacant site which was the former home of the ADM Wheat Mill Silos. While the multi-phase project was originally proposed in 2021 and having gone through a handful of design changes since, developer Sterling Bay has received its final approval for the SOM-designed structure prior to permits.
This past week, Chicago YIMBY toured Foundry at Wendelin Park, a 27-story mixed-use tower at 1475 North Kingsbury Street in Near North Side. Undertaken by Structured Development alongside White Oak Realty Partners, the project encompasses a set of three buildings positioned around the newly opened Wendelin Park, also the namesake of the masterplan (formerly “The Shops at Big Deahl”).
Wendelin Park, previously known as The Shops at Big Deahl, is now partially open to residents. This $250 million, mixed-use Clybourn Corridor project, managed by Structured Development, is adding three residential buildings to the area: Post Chicago, The Seng, and the soon-to-be-completed Foundry. These buildings, alongside a new 26,000-square-foot public park and public art installations, follow the 2021 completion of Movement Lincoln Park, the first stage of the masterplan and the tallest climbing gym in the city.
